An Overdue Update!

This may be a rather *long* post, as quite a bit has happened since I posted last. I never intend to 'disappear' from the blogosphere for so long . . . I just get caught up in my daily life and run out of time during the day, then by the time night comes around I'm usually to tired to compose my thoughts into something readable. However, I really should post more often.

Now, on to the update. . . .

The first week of October was quite eventful for my little munchkin--first he learned to wave (he's still working on it, but he has the general idea!), then he learned to associate "SPLAT!" with when he smacks and splatters the food on his highchair tray. On October 3rd he stumbled and fell against a wooden toy box that we have in his play room (and consequently removed from the playroom soon thereafter!) -- that incident resulted in his very first bloody lip (poor Baby!) and a cut underneath his lip as well.  The next day (Oct. 4th) he clapped his own hands (he's been clapping MINE for quite a while, ha ha)! Then on the 6th I was blowing bubbles for him, and he came over to me and said "Buh-buh.' So I think his third word may have been 'bubble'. :-) On the 8th he made it almost all the way across his playroom walking on his own, and he tried walking down the hallway that night before his bath (and even turned a corner!). Now he can walk in circles and turn around! He still loses his balance and plops down, but he is improving every day. Oh, and we can't really put him in his walker much anymore because he can climb out and I'm afraid he's going to fall on his head (I've always gotten him out before he loses his balance, but it's only a matter of time if we keep putting him in there, so I'd rather not chance it). So, that is what Peanut Butter Cup has been up to lately!

Since he figured out the whole clapping thing, he absolutely loves to clap! Oh, and Karissa, you can tell Courtney that she doesn't need to worry too much about him having a lack of rhythm and timing--when he claps to a song he is almost always on beat. :-) He actually clapped while watching Wheel of Fortune October 7th (he saw the contestants clapping and he decided he was going to clap as well--it was too cute)!

This past weekend (along with the past few days) have been hard as we have had to make a difficult decision in regards to Quigley. I will post more about that later, as that is a post in and of itself. Please be in prayer for our family though through the rest of this week as it is going to be a difficult next few days.

Update! Long Time Coming . . . Sorry!

Hello All!

It's been awhile hasn't it? Quite a while. Since Peanut Butter Cup is sleeping currently I figured now would be a good time to sit down and write an update on where we are currently.

The movers came and packed up all of our stuff June 14th and 15th and we flew away from the Mainland to our new home on the 23rd.

Since then we have been staying in a hotel and doing a lot of house-hunting . . . all the while hoping and praying that a particular, new housing community on-Post would be opened up for officers (there is a shortage of officer housing on-Post) as it was currently only for enlisted. Last week we were told that, yes, two streets would be opening to officers, but that there were still a bunch of people ahead of us on the waiting list, so we probably wouldn't be able to get into one of those houses and would have to wait and see if any more streets would be opened up for officers--but that it might not be until the beginning of August, if it happened at all. On Monday we found out that there were supposed to be 10 houses allotted--and we would have been called and offered one that day--but there were actually only 8 houses and they were going to have to get approval for the other 2 houses and that could take anywhere from two days to two weeks. So we waited. Wednesday evening we got a call saying that one of the families who had been offered one of the eight houses had found a house off-Post and turned down the on-Post house, so if we wanted it, it was ours! We went in on Thursday morning to look at the house, and OH. MY. GOODNESS. It is GORGEOUS! The house is brand new, and so much bigger than we were expecting and it has a fenced yard (it's a small yard compared to what we are used to, but by Hawaiian standards, it is pretty big, so we are really happy about that as well). Even better though: we get to move in on Monday! No more hotels for awhile! YAY! Plus, our household goods should get here in two weeks or less, so we won't be without the rest of Peanut Butter Cup's stuff that we have been missing (e.g., his swing and jumper, ha ha).

So, that is what has been happening here. Getting the house in that particular housing community is such a huge blessing! I will post pictures later . . . .

Oh, and we bought a new 'Baby-Mobile', ha ha. It's a Hyundai Santa Fe and gets a lot better gas mileage than our xTerra did! :) Which is awesome in Hawaii because gas prices here are as ridiculous as ever.

Ooooo, and remember how excited I was about getting the freezer? Ha ha! Well, we just bought a washer and dryer and I am just as excited! I've never had a brand new washer and dryer before, so the thought of being the first person/family to wash and dry a load of laundry in them is pretty thrilling to me. :) Bear with me folks.

*Update on Peanut Butter Cup* The day that the movers came and picked up our stuff (June 15th) Peanut Butter Cup pushed himself up to an almost sitting position. The day after we arrived in Hawaii he cut his second tooth (the bottom left), and a few days later he was sitting up like it didn't take any effort at all and saying "ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma" a LOT. A couple of days after that he pulled himself up in his playpen. Several days later I couldn't do anything to keep him from pulling himself up and now he isn't satisfied with sitting at all really. We think he will be walking by about 9 or 9 1/2 months . . . he is just past 8 months now, so we shall see. :) So, there have been many changes in the past month for my little Munchkin!

Well, I guess I'd better head to bed here in a few minutes. Hopefully it won't be quite as long before you hear from me again! I'm not sure how long it will take to get internet at our new house after we move in on Monday . . . it may not be for a couple of weeks, but hopefully it will be sooner. Hope you are all doing well! :)

Bananas and HE SAID MA-MA!!

This has been quite an eventful week for my little Peanut Butter Cup -- first we decided to go ahead and introduce solids Monday morning, so I mashed up some banana for him (I'll have to post some pictures of his expressions from that first foray into the world of solids after I get a chance to go through them and pick out a couple), then this morning he was holding my finger (and talking to it apparently, ha ha) and he said "Ma-Ma." I know he doesn't associate me with "Ma-Ma" just yet, and he hasn't said it again since then (not together anyhow, he has said "Ma" with other baby coos and such since then), but that still doesn't lessen my excitement over the fact that he said it. His first word!! Unless of course we count when he said "Rawr" plain as day sometime last month. That was so funny -- his face after he said it was priceless. :-) Though I guess "Rawr" doesn't really count as an actual word.

I wonder when he will say "Ma-Ma" again? I can't wait! :-) He melts my heart (though I think that has probably been a pretty common occurrence around here since his arrival!).

Oh, and today Peanut Butter Cup is 24 weeks old!

Well, I just wanted to share! Hope y'all are having a good evening!
